The agreement, brokered through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, establishes a comprehensive nationwide framework for identifying, training, developing, and placing Nigeria’s elite young athletes into global competition and educational pathways. As Hon. Adeyinka Anthony Adeboye, Senior Special Assistant to the President, stated at the recent National Basketball Combine in Lagos: “We must continue to build the next generation that will make Nigeria proud globally”.

A New Model for Global Sport

What sets the A5 U19 team apart is its unprecedented structure. Adrenale 5 is the world’s first sovereign-backed, Olympic-pathway athlete development platform. Unlike traditional club or academy teams, the A5 U19 squad operates with the full authorization of the Nigerian government and the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), making it not merely a team but a national asset.

The program’s “Grassroots-to-Elite Pipeline” includes nationwide scouting across all 36 Nigerian states, year-round academy operations, holistic athlete development, and academic scholarship placement pathways into U.S. schools and universities. Having the world’s first country-backed National Prep Team compete in the league is “not only a game changer for the sport of basketball, but for the world itself,” Hudson stated.
